Some of Our Lessons Include

Students model how heat is trapped by greenhouse gases, warming the earth.  They learn about the most predominant greenhouse gas, carbon dioxide, by mixing baking soda and vinegar. 

Students play the dice game and collect tokens to learn about the contribution of the major sources of greenhouse gases.

Students measure tree diameters to determine the amount of carbon stored inside and how much carbon is released due to deforestation.  The instructor presents alternatives to beef, such as tofu and beans.

Students model the impact of climate change on weather, including increased precipitation causing flooding.

Students to pretend to be different animals and model how they are impacted by climate change.  They learn how to advocate for climate change solutions.

Students finish up the year with a story walk review.  They finish with a competitive game of Jeopardy!
